Our Process begins with a shared vision and a common goal, to uniquely design and craft your dream outdoor living spaces.

Design

The design process is collaborative and dependent on clear communication. Studio work, drawings and renders help cultivate and craft the landscape plans to surpass our clients expectations and vision.

DESIGNS / MARKETING

Jon’s creative career began at a young age by drawing and painting cars. He continued to develop his creative skills over the years, and eventually he attended North Carolina State University. There, he earned his Bachelors in Horticultural Science and Landscape Design and then earned his Masters in Landscape Architecture.

Jon’s passion for design was fueled during his internships as a designer at HagerSmith PA and Wither’s & Ravenel. He soon began to market himself as a landscape designer and found a niche in designing residential landscapes.

Jon and his brother, Matt, began Currin Outdoor Living in 2016, and his focus has since been on the overall vision of the company, the design department, and oversight of the design/build projects at Currin Outdoor.

Jon and his wife, Sam, live near the Art Museum in Raleigh. His passions outside of work include food and wine, snowboarding, and traveling.

Build

Consistent site visits from concept to completion ensure the design not only captures, but enhances the qualities of the natural environment. We select unique plants and materials for each project which allows us to achieve quality results and provide exceptional care and maintenance. Our team shares the values, skills and drive to ensure the process is an enjoyable and rewarding experience for our clients.

OPERATIONS

Matt’s passion for gardening and horticulture started at a young age. At the age of just 16, Matt founded a plant nursery that specialized in perennial and ornamental plants, Autumn Farms and Nursery, where he learned the details of running a small business. During this time Matt also founded an organic chicken egg company and a non-profit dog adoption organization.

While maintaining his businesses he pursued his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education at North Carolina State University. Matt became a teacher at Millbrook High School in horticulture.

Matt partnered with his brother, Jon, at Currin Outdoor Living when it was founded in 2016. He is a North Carolina Licensed Landscape Contractor and a North Carolina Licensed Irrigation Contractor. To this day, he continues to manage daily schedules, installations, and team building with the same passion he discovered at just 16 years old.

Matt and his adopted dog, Akira, live in Wendell, NC. He is passionate about horticulture, home gardening, skydiving, aviation, rock climbing, and traveling.
