Your Pool Color Is Not Just About the Water

One of the most overlooked decisions in pool design is also one of the most defining.

Water finish.

The color, texture, and material used to finish the interior of your pool directly affects how the water looks—at all times of day and in every kind of light. While tile and coping shape the perimeter, it’s the plaster that gives the water its color.

For this client, the request was clear:

"We want it to look Mediterranean."

That meant a bright white/blue finish. We worked with the homeowner to create a custom blended pool finish to deliver the specific color they were looking for. Here’s a quick look at what goes into the process:

1. Our Design team coordinates with the home owner to understand the desired ambience / vibe of the overall project.

2. Our designers come up with the material selection mood board and review / revise with the client.

3. We consider various factors that will affect the color of the space that include surrounding materials, time of day, water depth

4. Pool finish can be customized as needed and we work closely with our vendor to create desired samples.

5. Plaster is applied and treated by a trusted vendor.

6. Pool is properly filled and chemicals adjusted as needed to ensure the proper curing process.

7. The final pool color is revealed! :)

With the right pool water color, your space becomes more than a functional environment.  It becomes a space that’s visually appealing and appealing to be in.

Whether you’re imagining a soft Caribbean teal, a mirrored charcoal basin, or a bright Mediterranean blue like this one, the finish you choose is where the tone is set.
