Explore the Eden project in Raleigh, featuring a custom fireplace, outdoor kitchen, boulders, drainage solutions, and contemporary landscaping.

The biggest challenge on this project was related to water drainage issues. We created a design that solved the drainage problem through a gradual grade change from the house which also allowed for a functional backyard space. Along with the special grading, we added steps and levels to also add a unique feel to the design. This maximized the usable space with a very linear design, keeping key features along one side of the yard and creating additional usable lawn space.

This project was designed to enhance and unify an existing backyard while solving functional challenges. The homeowners wanted to elevate their porch with a custom fireplace and introduce structure to the landscape using large boulders and clean architectural elements. A consistent, restrained color palette was carried through key features, including the fence, outdoor kitchen, and patina metal wall, to create a cohesive and contemporary outdoor environment.

One of the primary challenges of this project was addressing significant water drainage issues across the property. We developed a solution that incorporated a gradual grade change away from the home, allowing water to move properly while creating a more functional backyard. Steps and subtle level changes were introduced to add visual interest and enhance usability. By organizing major features along one side of the yard, the design maintains a strong linear layout while maximizing open lawn space. The result is a structured, intentional landscape that feels both practical and visually balanced.
