This project was built for a family with children who love to entertain, and it picked up where an earlier project left off. A few years back the homeowners had completed a patio and firepit with Currin, then decided they wanted the pool that had not fit the first time, picturing a calm and private backyard that still felt open enough for gatherings. The finished design fits a boutique pool and spa, a raised water feature, a gas firepit, and layered landscaping and lighting into a space shaped by a tight utility easement.

The pool measures 12 foot by 22 foot and includes a 12 foot by 12 foot tanning ledge set under six inches of water, with a four foot deep spa area built in. A raised water feature runs along one edge, finished in glass tile and fed by five two inch box scuppers that spill into the pool below. The spa carries its own heater, jets, and an LED bubbler, while a gas firepit rated at 400,000 BTUs anchors the seating area. Because a utility easement runs along the back of the house, the whole layout was planned to make the most of a narrow footprint without feeling tight, which is exactly what the family was after. The raised tile wall gives the backyard its signature look and pulls the space together for a household that plans to use it often.
